Elizabeth O’Toole Harvill, of Gaithersburg, MD, died of natural causes on April 17, at Wilson Healthcare Center in Asbury Methodist Village. Born July 10, 1927, in Washington, DC, she was educated in District schools and married her high school sweetheart and McKinley Tech three-sport and football star John Harvill. They were married for 68 years before he predeceased her in 2013. She was a successful businesswoman, active civic leader, long-time political supporter, natural social organizer, and faithful church member.
But most important, she was the very heart of her family who truly adored her: daughter Carol Loughney, her husband Frank, granddaughter Kerry Loughney and her partner Christopher Mekenney, and granddaughter Maura Loughney, her wife Vibeke Kristensen and great grandsons Axel, Thorbjorn and Fjordur. And daughter Mollie Haines, her husband Gene and granddaughter Kelly Bolcik, her husband Scott and great grandchildren Corrie, Connor and Abigail, and granddaughter Corey McClellan, her husband Doug, and great grandchildren Sydney West and Jake Infantino.
Her family also includes her dedicated, loving caregivers Cecilia, Stephanie, Lina and Rachel who were part of her circle of love.
Elizabeth, “Betty,” “Hon,” “Mom,” “GiGi,” was a kind and generous spirit, beautiful inside and out, and this world is diminished by her absence.
Considering current pandemic restrictions, the family cannot hold a memorial service. If you would like to remember Elizabeth, the family would be grateful for your gift in her memory to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 (https://www.montgomeryhospice.org/donate-and-support) a wonderful nonprofit organization that gentled the end of life journey for Elizabeth and for her husband John.
