Dorothy Ann "Dottie" McIntire (née Scott), born on June 4, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 19, 2026, in Sandy Spring, Maryland. She was 96 years old.
Dottie dedicated 25 years of her professional life to the University of Maryland, where her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike. Her long-standing service reflected a deep sense of responsibility and pride in her contributions to the academic community.
Beyond her career, Dottie was deeply involved in her local community. A devoted member of Marvin Memorial Methodist Church and later Christ Church at Manorwoods. She shared her faith by teaching Bible study classes, offering spiritual guidance and fellowship to those around her. Her dedication to her church was a cornerstone of her life and a source of strength for many who knew her.
Dottie also took an active role in civic life as a committed member of the local Republican Party. Her engagement reflected a lifelong interest in public affairs and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the world around her.
Throughout her life Dottie shared joy and companionship with her many dogs. She also discovered a lifetime of great joy through her gardening. Whether tending to flowers or cultivating vegetables, she found peace and purpose in nurturing growth from the soil—a reflection of the care she extended to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cameron M. McIntire. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Janet McIntire, Jon McIntire, and Deborah Rose (Joseph); grandchildren Christina Wisniewski (Peter Alan) and Brandt Rose (Kayla); and great-grandchildren Peter Paul Wisniewski II, Aleksandr Wisniewski, and Vada Rose.
