Dorothy L. Finneyfrock

Dorothy Lee Lechlider Finneyfrock passed away at home on April 5, 2023, at the age of 90. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She grew up as the second oldest of eight siblings in Johnson/Lechlider family in Colesville Maryland. Most of her time as a child was spent taking care of her younger siblings and helping on the family farm.

As an adult she was a well-loved member of the Olney community. She was very active member at St. Johns Church and The Woman’s Board which organized many community projects and raised money for Montgomery General Hospital. In addition, she was the bookkeeper for “Finneyfrock’s” a historic family blacksmith business she operated with her husband and sons, whose origins date back to 1885.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dudley Finneyfrock Sr., former husband Thomas Gibson, and son Dudley Finneyfrock Jr. She is survived by her children and spouses: Steve (Paula) Gibson, David Gibson, Cynthia (Skip) Purich, and Amy Finneyfrock. As well as her stepdaughter and husband with Dudley Finneyfrock Sr., Tina (Jim) Goldstein. Grandchildren: Heather, Laura, Sarah, Rachel, Colton, Katelyn, Vince, Tony, Zachary and Layla. As well as great grandchildren: Zoe, Eli, Dylan, Daxton, Leilani, and Tasmyn.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at 11:00 am on April 14, 2023, at St. Johns Church, (3427 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Olney MD 20832). Flowers can be sent to St. John’s Church, or donations in her memory made to Montgomery Hospice http://www.montgomeryhospice.org.
