Dorothea Ann Neviser, 80, of Olney, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late Harry Robert and Dorothea Augustine (Deschenes) Stiddard. As a baby, she moved with her parents to Southboro, Massachusetts, to be near family. It was there she earned the nickname “Boots,” a name lovingly used by family and friends throughout her life.
Following a relocation to Maryland, Ann lived in Catonsville, Middle River, Essex, and Towson. She embraced a wide range of interests, participating in Girl Scouts, art classes, piano lessons through the Peabody Conservatory, and dance and drama training at the Hilltop Theater School of Arts.
Ann graduated from Towson Catholic High School in 1963, where she contributed to the school newspaper, yearbook and sang in the chorus during operettas. She went on to attend the University of Maryland and later Towson University.
In 1966, Ann moved closer to Washington, D.C. and began her career with the Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO). She retired fifty-five years later as a Lead for the Internet Sales Group. She credited the “finest associates and management” for her long tenure and especially excelled in her role as a mentor.
Ann was married to Howard Neviser from 1967-1977. After settling in Olney in 1970, they welcomed their daughter. Ann remained in the same Olney home for fifty-five years, cherishing the lasting friendships she formed with her neighbors.
Throughout her life, Ann was an avid reader who loved music and dancing. She served her community in many ways, including as an election judge and as a member of her neighborhood association. She steadily supported several charities close to her heart.
Ann was a devoted mother and Nana. She treasured time with her grandchildren, cheering them on in sports and proudly supporting them in all their endeavors.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Melinda Elise and son in law, Keith David Yuhas, and by her three adored grandchildren, Kiersten Elise, Aidan Joseph, and Tyler David Yuhas. She is also survived by numerous cousins in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
A Celebration of Life will take place on December 11th at Silo Falls from 12pm-2pm. (19501 Georgia Ave. Brookeville, MD 20833)
