Dennis McConaty

Dennis McConaty, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went home to the Lord peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 84.

He was born on March 30, 1941, in Washington, DC to John and Clarice McConaty. Along with his parents, he grew up surrounded by 2 brothers and 3 sisters who shared a strong belief in their faith, family, and a hard work ethic.

Dennis devoted his life to his family, his community, and his passions. He began his career at Thomas Somerville, then founded his own kitchen cabinet business, Kitchen Witchery. Later, he worked as a self-employed carpenter and home improvement specialist—skills he used not just to build homes, but to build relationships and improve lives. His customers often became lifelong friends, drawn to his honesty, craftsmanship, and humble spirit. He loved the outdoors and sports.

Dennis was a believer in Christ and often shared his faith and love for the Lord. In the later years of his life, Dennis followed a higher calling, becoming a minister and the founder of the Prayer Stop in Silver Spring, Maryland. What started as a simple outreach ministry became a haven for prayer, reflection, and quiet connection to God. He also sought to bring comfort in prayer to those sick in hospitals and prisons. He will be remembered by his strong connection and fellowship with those at the Living Word Church and for his peaceful steadiness and the unassuming love he shared with everyone he met.

His legacy is not only in the homes he built or the ministry he led, but in the people he lifted up-quietly, faithfully, day after day.

Dennis is survived by his loving children Lisa, Brian, and Bill McConaty, their spouses, six grandchildren, his sisters Janice and Sharon, nieces and nephews. We take comfort in knowing that Dennis is now in heaven with the Lord. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held June 13th at 11:00 at the Living Word International Church 16819 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20905.

His family and friends will gather to honor the life of a man who lived with purpose, served with humility, and loved without condition.
