David “Dave” Cross passed away on October 6, 2024. He was born in Washington DC on October 24, 1951 and grew up in Montgomery County, MD.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years, Mary, and adoptive parents, Margaret and Robert Cross. He is survived by his three children, Benjamin (Sarah Jean), Joseph, and Sarah as well as his grandson Bodie and granddaughter Maryn, arriving in December, and several other beloved family and friends.
Dave worked in special education for over 35 years and continued his work in the special needs community after retirement, serving on the board of directors for Community Support Services, Inc. Dave was a passionate advocate for all families he encountered, always putting their needs first.
In his free time, Dave enjoyed building his Lego collection, crafting one of a kind stained glass pieces, going on motorcycle rides, and spending as much time as he could with family.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 6-8pm at Barber Funeral Home located at 21525 Laytonsville Rd, Laytonsville, MD 20882. Visitation will be from 6pm to 7pm and the memorial service will be from 7pm to 8pm.
*Dave was known for his Tommy Bahama shirts, so please feel free to join the family in wearing Hawaiian theme if you’d like.
A burial for both Dave and Mary Cross will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10am at St Mary’s Cemetery located at 1350 Baltimore Rd, Rockville, MD 20851.
