Charlyne Stadel Obituary

Charlyne Lockwood Stadel passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 4:30 am near her home in Brookeville, Maryland. Born February 10, 1927 Charlyne was 94 years old. She was predeceased and will be greeted with loving arms by her son Ted Stadel and her brother Petty Officer CM Lockwood, who was killed in action in Pearl Harbor. Charlyne is survived by her two daughters, Lynn VanVerth (Steve) and Sheri Adam (Joe); along with her nine grandchildren, Orian Stadel (Daniella), Jennifer Harris (Aijai), Stefanie Yuhas (Tommy), Nicole Adam Barber (Tony), Lindsey Simpson (Derek), Joey Adam (Kristina), Camille Stadel (Dan), Haley Adam, and Brady Adam; as well as, seven great-grandchildren, Raeqwon, Gage, Jovie, Emma, Allen, Lyla, and Strider.

Charlyne lived a life full of family, love, friendship, faith, unmatched work ethic, and immeasurable magical experiences. The lives she touched and impacted along the way are too many to count. After high school, she packed her belongings and left her home in Sycamore, Arkansas and embarked on a new adventure in Washington, D.C. She forged a dedicated career and found her church family in D.C., while raising her family in Colesville, Maryland. While she maintained her dedication to her career as a legal secretary until the unbelievable age of 90, she always made time for her family and friends. When you were with Charlyne, you always had her undivided attention. She took her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on many adventures to all the museums, theaters, parks and places of historical/cultural significance throughout the Maryland, DC, Virginia area. This gift of her time, experience and knowledge, she gave her family, will be what remains when everything else fades away. One of the most amazing gifts she received was having her brother’s, Petty Officer CM Lockwood, remains identified and laid to rest, with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in 2019.  She was able to see her brother brought home and found peace in that.

Charlyne was an incredible force of nature who, as her best friend said, blazed through this beautiful life she created and took everyone with her that could keep up. She is irreplaceable and will be loved, remembered and missed by all that she touched. Charlyne/Mom/Grandmum, “we love you most!”
