Charles “Charlie” William Garza passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 48 in Maryland. His battle with serious medical issues over the recent years showed his courage in facing life with a smile and a laugh.
His passion for preaching God’s word and his love for people took him to 7 different countries doing mission work. He was active in starting 5 churches throughout his short life. He was fearless and would go anywhere to minister to people who needed help.
Shortly after graduating high school Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Christie, and attended seminary. It was there that he began to travel the world on mission trips. At the age of 23 he moved to Maryland to become the pastor of Beulah Baptist Church. He was a true Shepherd to his church. He served God at that church until he took his last breath.
Charlie and Christie have 3 children: Makayla Robinson, Brenna Capps and Noah Garza, along with 2 grandchildren: Thea and Autumn. Charlie’s role as husband, Dad and “Pop” were very special to him. He shared with them his passion for missions and took all of his children on a foreign trip.
He is also survived by his mother, Mary Witt of Inverness, FL and his sister, Cindy Thompson of Germantown, MD.
Charlie enjoyed fishing, carpentry and woodworking in his spare time. But mostly he will be known for his amazing way to tell stories and to make people laugh. He brought so much joy and so much wisdom through his life.
Charlie’s life will be honored on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Beulah Baptist Church, 5716 Dun Horse Ln, Derwood, MD. Visitation will be at 10 am and the funeral will be at 11.
