Charles Franklin Bready, Jr. (known to all as Frank) died at his home in Adamstown, Maryland on Sunday, December 19, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1932 in Olney, Maryland to the late Charles Franklin Bready, Sr. and Margaret Creighton Bready. He was the fourth of four sons of parents who modeled hard work as farmers.
His first focus in life was sports and his skills resulted in great popularity at Sherwood High School where he lettered in any sport he tried. He also met his lifelong partner, Nadine Snyder, while still in Junior High. They committed to marriage while he planned his college sports career. In God’s providence he hurt his knee to the point he was unable to play college sports. His life direction then changed and he worked his way through the University of Maryland while his future wife worked to save money to buy furniture for their future apartment.
He was married on January 28, 1954 and he and his wife had two children, Michael Franklin and Charlene Margaret. During that time, Frank was a navigation instructor in the Air Force.
Frank was employed in the Montgomery County Public School system for his professional career during which he worked as a classroom teacher, coach, counselor, high school assistant principal and principal, supervisor, director, area superintendent and consultant. He also had various second jobs including Adjunct teaching at colleges and Rec league umpiring. In addition he entered graduate school and obtained his doctorate in education.
In addition to his professional career, Frank worked in his home gardens growing vegetables and flowers. He was a longtime member of Oakdale Emory Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a youth group leader and finally a Sunday School Superintendent.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nadine, his son and wife, Michael and Suzanne Bready, daughter Charlene Platter, four grandchildren, Shawn Wise, Molly Urban, Caitlin Jones, and Michael Bready and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Araby United Methodist Church in Frederick Maryland. A viewing will begin at 11am and the service will be at 12 noon. A graveside ceremony will take place at 2:30pm at Norbeck Cemetery in Olney, Maryland.
