Carole (Albright) Janney, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 19, 2026. Born in Olney, Maryland, Carole spent her life deeply rooted in the community and surrounded by family and friends that she cherished dearly.
After graduating from Sherwood High School, Carole began her professional career as a secretary at the National Institutes of Health. She later chose to devote herself fully to her family, becoming a dedicated homemaker and household manager—a role she embraced with pride, care, and unwavering commitment.
As a young mother, Carole was actively involved in supporting her children’s interests, particularly in sports and 4-H, and she generously gave her time to the local fire department ladies’ auxiliary. She served on the Woman’s Board of the Medstar Montgomery Medical Center (formerly the Montgomery General Hospital). Carole was a member of Salem UMC in Brookeville, MD. Her faith was a life-long cornerstone, and she remained active in her church throughout her life. Carole found great joy in sewing and quilting, and she was always ready to provide care, comfort, and encouragement to those she loved.
Family was at the heart of everything Carole did. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her cousins, her grandchildren, and most recently, her beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. Carole made a lasting impact on the lives she touched, a true embodiment of love and devotion.
Carole is survived by her brother, Teddy Bryan (Linda), her three children, Lynne Pulford (Dave), Jeff Janney (Pam), and Mark Janney (Katie); six grandchildren, Ashley (John), Bryan (Kyle), Wes (Casey), Caitlyn (Jesse), Taylor (Daniel), and Leila; and her six great-grandchildren, Tre, Enzo, Garrett, Brody, Wyatt, and Wynnie. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Janney, Jr.; her parents, Clarence and Mildred (Bryan) Albright, and her brother, William Albright.
