It is with great sadness that we announce that Carmen (Mami) Barcinas Anderson Buchanan (Anderson/Che’ and Barcinas/Bodik), 92 years, passed away on Monday, October 28 peacefully at her home in Silver Spring, MD.
Carmen, born on April 25, 1932 to Francisco Borja Anderson and Josefa Torres Barcinas Anderson in Agaña, Guam, island territory of the U.S. She lived her life on Guam until she met her husband, Franklin (Frank) Key Buchanan while serving in the Navy. Carmen and Frank fell in love, married, left the island in 1955 for the mainland and settled in Rockville, MD to start a life together and raise their three children: Elena Randall, Franklin (Buck) Buchanan, and Theresa Chapman.
Her children produced a total of ten grandchildren: Veronica Schultz, Kevin Yordy, Jeremiah Buchanan, Crystal Loprete, Christopher Randall, Michael Randall, Melissa Moore-Esquivel, Anthony James (AJ) Buchanan, Paige Humphries, and Erin Palmer. To date, there are sixteen great grandchildren. Suffice to say, family was incredibly important and brought great joy to Carmen’s life.
Surviving siblings: Sylvia (Bebang) Barcinas Anderson Torres, Vicente (Ben) Taisipic, Tomas (Tom/Tommy) Barcinas Anderson, Priscilla (Lilang) Barcinas Anderson; Joseph (Joey) Anderson, and Rose Catherine (Cathy) Anderson Mateo.
Predeceased family members: Husband: Franklin Key Buchanan; Siblings: Juan (John) Barcinas Anderson, Beatrice Barcinas Anderson Paulino, Isabel (Beck) Barcinas Anderson Garrido, Patricia Barcinas Anderson Guzman, Dorothea Barcinas Anderson Champaco, and Francisco Barcinas Anderson.

Service will be held on November 16 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20852, from 11:00 AM-Noon, with visitation from 10:30-11:00 AM.
Reception/Celebration of Life: the Rockville Senior Center’s Dining Room, 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
