Audrey Jean Edmunds

Audrey Jean Edmunds, 96, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 27, 2025.  

Audrey grew up in Rochester, New York, where she attended business school before beginning her career at Delco Corporation. It was there that she met her late husband, George. Together, they moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where they formed lifelong friendships and became deeply involved in their church community.

Audrey’s world revolved around her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and devoted countless hours volunteering in her children’s lives, serving as a den mother and Brownie leader. Her home was always open, and she hosted many gatherings for her children and their friends over the years.

An avid bowler, Audrey was a longtime member of the Three Hundred Club. Her exceptional cooking talents also earned her numerous first-place awards at the Montgomery County Fair.

Audrey’s love for her family continued to grow as she embraced her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of Adelia Ann Frieda “Della” Schoenfeld and stepfather Richard Olds, of Rochester, New York.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, George William Edmunds, Sr., and her granddaughter, Meredith Alyssa Mahr-Edmunds.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Bonnie J. Moore of Arlington, VA, and her three sons, Douglas W. Edmunds of Kent Island, MD, Robert A. Edmunds of Rockville, MD, and George W. “Bill” Edmunds, Jr. (Carol) of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Parlet of Rochester, New York; her grandchildren Erica (Niko) Skenderis, Ryan, Liam, Molly, Maddy, Nicole, Victoria, and Marcus; and her three great-grandchildren, George, Evangelina, and Nicoletta Skenderis.

A viewing and service for relatives and friends will be on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, MD 20882. Interment will be private.
