Arva Jean Miller

Arva Jean Miller, 61, of Olney, MD passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 1, 2021 surrounded by her children.  Jeannie is the daughter of the late Margaret and Edward Maneely.  She is preceded in death by her husband John C. “Bubby” Miller Jr and survived by her five children, Victoria Lynn Alderton, John C. Miller III, Donald Edward Valentine, Christina Marie Contreras and Patrick Vernon Valentine.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren and her sisters Mary Lee Young, Bonnie Kay Chaney and her brothers Thomas Maneely, Robert Wyler, Jr. and Mike Maneely.  Jeannie started working at a young age and held multiple jobs including Woody’s Clothing, Fiber Clean, The Redland Pub and Roy Rogers where she met Don Valentine whom she married in February 1980.  Jeannie and Don had 4 children together and divorced in 1995.  Jeannie started working at Kappe Associates in January of 1989 and retired after twenty two years to help care for her dad.  Jeannie married the love of her life Bubby on June 6, 1996.  With that marriage she added Bubby’s son John to her family.  She loved all of her children more than anything in this world.  Jeannie had many joys in life outside of her family.  With her love of Bubby her passion to learn and play tennis grew.  They also enjoyed betting on the horse races and would spend every anniversary at Charlestown Races and Slots.  Bubby would always have to try to pry her away from the slot machines before she lost all of her weekend money.  She loved kicking her kids’ butts in bowling!  She would get oddly competitive when it came to playing pool and darts and some video games (pac-man and the Atari).  She was a long time member of the FOE in Gaithersburg and “you can bet your sweet ass” she was a lifetime member of the “Turtle” club.  Jeannie was truly loved and respected by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.  Her love for her family was and is unmatched.  Though she may be gone she will never be forgotten in the eyes, hearts and souls of her beloved family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 26th 2021 from 1pm to 5pm at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Germantown located at, 19201 Frederick Road Germantown, Maryland 20876
