Anthony Petrolle, Jr. Obituary

Anthony Albert Petrolle Jr. passed away on April 17, 2023 at the age of 85 after living a long and full life.

Anthony (Tony) entered life on January 21, 1938 in Johnson City, NY.  The son of two immigrant shoe factory workers, Anthony A. Sr. and Mary Polasek Petrolle, his goal was to improve the quality of life for the next generation of his family… which he succeeded at!

Tony’s early years were spent learning to master the saxophone, clarinet and trumpet, and he thrived anywhere music was playing; especially enjoying his favorites, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, etc. and loved playing in a swing band in the 50’s.

Tony was a charmer, never missing a prom or formal and was awarded King of the school in both high school and college!  For proof, just ask his only sibling and twin sister, Patricia, or her husband, also Tony’s close friend, Keith Beddoe.

Upon graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Tony began his career with IBM as a Program Manager, which would ultimately last 32 years.  After which, he entered his second career in the same role with Computer Sciences Corporation for another 15 years before retiring.

In 1968, IBM moved Tony to Huntsville, Alabama to work on the Apollo space program, during which time he met, fell in love with and married Darenda Lynn Monday who would turn out to be his wife of 53 years.

The year 1972 delivered Tony and Darenda’s first son, Anthony William, as well as an IBM relocation to Rockville, Maryland.  Three years later, Vincent Michael was added to the family and the family of four would spend the next 48 years as thriving members, contributors and pillars to the community is so many ways.

Tony’s pride of his life was his family and the success they’ve had in their lives; improving the standard of living his parents provided to him for each successive generation.

He is survived by his wife Darenda, son Anthony and wife Erica, son Vincent and wife Elizabeth, grandsons: James Anthony, Reece Leonard, Christian Michael, and Dominic William, as well as one special granddaughter Daniella Jane. He is also survived by sister, Patricia Petrolle Beddoe and husband Keith Beddoe of Endicott, NY.

Tony struggled with diabetes and kidney disease until it ultimately took his life on April 17th.  His family is 100% confident that Tony is enjoying his time playing clarinet and dancing in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  Until we meet again…
