"Because I do not know any medicine for grief but to let ourselves grieve. Because I do not know any cure for sorrow but to let ourselves sorrow. Because I do not know any remedy but to let the heart break, to let it fall open, then to let it fall open still the more. Because I do not know how to mend the unmendable, unfixable, unhealable wound that keeps finding itself healed as we tend it, as we follow the line of it, as we let it lead us on the path it knows. Because I do not know any solace but to give ourselves into the love that will never cease to find us, that will never loose its hold on us, that will never abandon us to the sorrow for which it holds the cure." -- Jan Richardson

Holding you all in my heart as you grieve this profound loss. Be gentle with yourselves in the days ahead.

Erin, I got to know you through Girl Scouts years ago. I have a memory of you at one of our service unit meetings that I keep in my head, laughing and joking with us all. I admired your positive spirit and thought about you often. I am glad to have known you.

Erin, you gave your family a beautiful legacy, full of adventure, courage, creativity and love. Your family surrounded you with happiness, music, laughter and warmth. You all took care of each other. You helped your daughters to grow into independent, talented and capable young women. May the memories you gave your family continue to give them inspiration and hope for the future. The world is a better place because of you. Thanks for sharing your life with the people who were privileged enough to know you.

I remember Erin so fondly. She was a friend, neighbor, and business associate. Oh... she even watched my two girls when we needed help. They loved her and of course she never asked for anything in return.
We will all miss her. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

Erin was one of the strongest women I've ever known - we met in a new moms group with our first born children and we shared many play groups, outings and moms nights out. Her amazing strength, bravery and sense of humor from her initial diagnosis through the years that followed were so inspiring. She lived life to the fullest as her condition permitted during those years, teaching all who knew her to live in the moment and appreciate the love of family and friends. To her beautiful daughters, you are the best possible legacy Erin could have left for the world and her indelible spirit will live on through all of you.
