Elizabeth S. Minar

June 18, 1925 - January 1 2019

Elizabeth S. Minar, 93, of Brinklow, MD passed away on January 1, 2019. Daughter of the late Charles and Mary Sincell. Wife of the late Orris E. Minar. Survived by her two children, Michelle Minar of Derwood, MD and Michael Minar (Janet) of Silver Spring, MD. Also survived by three grandchildren, Mary Ann Jones, Eric Minar, and Michael Herrell, as well as two great-grandchildren, Ryan Minar and Jordan Minar.

Elizabeth grew up in Washington DC with her father and mother, Charles and Mary Sincell and her brother John. She moved to this area in 1969 with her Dear husband Emery and her mother Mary.  She so love the rural area and the friendly atmosphere.

Elizabeth was known as, (Jill) by her friends and family.  She was interested in Cooking. Jill took French cooking lessons. She and Emery enjoyed watching cooking shows on PBS television.

Gardening was fun for her but not nearly as fun as riding her John Deere tractor! She loved her cats.  Jill loved to spend time at the ocean. Her daughter Michelle took as often as possible.

Jill loved her “Fairfield”.  Jill was delighted that Fairfield was added to the historical society‘s older homes listings as it was built in 1856.  She enjoyed putting Fairfield on the historical homes of the area tour.  Jill even donated items from Fairfield to the Sandy Spring Museum as did owners before her.

Jill was part of the St Luke’s family for many years as was her mother Mary Sincell.  She made many deep and meaningful friendships that she treasured and thought about often.

Jill loved her children, Michelle and Michael.  She said that she thanked God for them every Sunday!  She knew that they were her true blessings along with their father Emery.

Jill had Emery’s memorial service at St Luke’s in 1991 and they both will be interred there together at a later date.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Elizabeth (Jill) Minar on Saturday February 23, 2019, 11:00am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Brighton Parish 1001 Brighton Dam Rd., Brookville, MD, 20833 to be followed by light refreshments at the Rectory next to the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your loved one. Hopefully reflecting on all the good times you've shared together will help ease the pain that you feel. May "the God of all comfort" strengthen you at this time of sadness, and may His promise for the future bring you peace. Hosea 13:14

I was shocked and oh so saddened to learn of Jill's passing. I had just talked to her days before and she seemed so pleased with her recovery and was optimistic about the outcome. Despite our age differences I consider her one of my very good friends, surprisingly I have known her for 25 or more years. I knew Weeta White who was her dear friend too. Both were very positive examples of how to age and keep a great outlook on your life and keep moving forward. I loved Jill and will miss her tremendously. I feel for her family and the loss they will now experience.
