Carl Harry Golding, 71, of Olney, MD and Sarasota, FL passed away on November 2, 2018 in Olney surrounded by family after a short illness.

Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, MD, where a memorial services will be held at 11am.  A reception will follow at Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville, MD.  Interment will follow at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.

Harry was born in Raymond, WA to Harlan and Verna (Smith) Golding on March 12, 1947.  He graduated from Raymond High School in 1965 and then Eastern Washington University in 1969 with a degree in teaching.  For 2 years, Harry taught for the Longview, WA school district.  In 1972, Harry enlisted in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of service.  During his time in the army he served in Italy, New Mexico, Alabama and the Pentagon.  In 1993, he resumed his teaching career at Ridgeview Middle School in Germantown, MD, where he taught math until he retired in 2008.    

On July 17, 1993 Harry married Jane Rechter Daly in Olney, MD.  Harry was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.  Harry and Jane spent a great deal of their time at their second home in Sarasota, Florida.  

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Verna, and nephew Daniel Golding.

Harry is survived by his wife Jane; step-daughter Jill Daly (Joe Vierbuchen) of Laytonsville, MD; step-daughter Meg Daly (Kai Raab) and granddaughter Nora Raab of Columbus, OH; brother Dale (Naomi) Golding of Rochester, WA; sister Janice Golding of Olympia, WA; nephew Dave (Jamie) Golding of Montesano, WA; and niece Michelle (Marc) Kazanas of Wilmington, NC.

Pat and I want to express our sympathy for the loss of Harry. He was a fun guy to be around. I especially remember the lively conversations with him and Mike Zarchin out on the street in front of our houses. The neighborhood won't be the same without him.
