Margaret Randle Pyles, age 97, died on January 2, 2018 at Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, MD.

Margaret was born October 19, 1920 at the family home, Kimberly, in Ohio County, Kentucky to Leonard and Lou Harrison Randle. She graduated as the valedictorian from Sacramento High School in June 1938.  She worked for the Department of Agriculture in Raleigh, North Carolina until 1941 and in Washington DC from 1941 to 1971. When she retired as Chief, Employment and Placement in the Office of Management Services, she was the highest ranking woman in the US Department of Agriculture.

Margaret was to married Hamilton K. Pyles from February 1965 until his death in October 1980. Margaret was also preceded in death by her brother Edwin Randle and stepson Knick Pyles. She is survived by her beloved sister, Eleanor Randle Halstead, nephew, Gary (Cindy) Halstead, and nieces Margaret (Matthew) Halstead Bussan, Elaine (Michael) Randle Mata, and Pamela (Chip) Randle Cade.  She is also survived by her stepdaughter Kathy (Bob) Hubby and grandchildren Anne (Tom)Buzby-Walt, George (Jill) Buzby, Jean Buzby, Jay Pyles, Jenny Cairncross, and Jiji Pyles.  In addition, she is remembered fondly by many great-nieces, great-nephews and great grandchildren.

Margaret was a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood.

A memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Guild Chapel, Gaithersburg, Maryland at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Burial will be in Island, KY later this year.
