Dear Lora, Charlie was such a joy. We miss him, but he'll always be with us in our hearts. One of us first met you two at Marty and Louise's wedding eons ago, the other met him even sooner in Boston. Since then we've enjoyed many a delicious dinner chez Sheridan and Olney Theater performances over the years, Leo's BBQ lunches with Charlie, and converging for Gilbert & Sullivan at the Fitzgerald Theater. Good people like Charlie are all too rare.

Please accept our sincere condolences.

So very sad to hear of Charley's passing. So Many happy memories of him with both the Savoyards and VLOC - our Treasurer and the Sergeant of the police in Pirates, not to mention Dick Deadeye in Pinafore with his lovely bass voice. So sorry that I will not be able to join you on November 4th due to prior engagement. All my sympathy Lora and Daniel.

We lived on opposite coasts so the times we met were few, but so memorable nonetheless. Charlie seemed buoyant to me, with a sunny glow around him, and he lifted my spirits. The last time I spent with him we were sitting on rocking chairs on a veranda in the Blue Ridge Mountains after my daughter Cat's wedding, talking late into the night and watching a faraway lightning storm.

I will miss Charlie, too. There are many good memories of him dating back to before his wedding to my wonderful sister, Lora. Helpful and friendly -- he was like an older brother, with good advice when I needed it, and always supportive. In later years the geography separated us for long stretches of time, but when we did see each other, he was amazingly there, his voice strong and welcoming. A good man. May his soul rest in peace.
