John Arthur Williams, Sr., 82, of Germantown, MD passed away on February 11, 2019. John worked as a plumber for most of his life and he retired from the Montgomery County School Board, Maintenance Department.
He loved spending time with people, especially his wife. John never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball and was an umpire in local baseball leagues for many years. One of his favorite times was when he traveled to Minneapolis to watch his beloved Redskins defeat the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI.
John is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams, as well as his five sons; John Williams, Jr., Richard Williams, James Williams, Donald Williams, and Robert Williams; his daughter, Joyce Teresa Edwards; his brothers, Richard Williams, Larry Williams, and Roger Williams; his sisters, Gertie Whetzel and Debbie Williams; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren plus one on the way.
John was preceded in death by his parents; Roger Mason Williams and Ada Katherine Williams; his daughter, Joanna Williams Schulz; and his brothers, Charles Williams, Asa Williams, and Denny Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
